Well, it was not a broken pipe. The pipe had slipped out. My dh tried to tighten the valve, but this made matters worse. Water spewed everywhere! My dh then rapidly managed to get it under control. But the hot water was turned off. And the mop up operation began. We started to make plans for rotas of emptying buckets and tins.
At which point the plumber called. 'Received your message. How urgent?'
Urgent! I cried down the phone.
The plumber came and managed to reconnect pipe without draining the whole system. And I learnt that there was a seperate tank for the heating system with a vale one can turn off. Then all that drains is the water in there, instead of everything.
Things are less soggy now.
And I might actually get the wip finished this weekend...

Hugs. Leaky radiators are not good.
Glad it's all sorted. Hope it all dries out quickly. (Do you have a dehumidifier, or can you borrow one from someone?)
Commiserations, Michelle. I've just found what appears to be a long term leak behind the utility room sink and under the washing machine. Absolutely no idea where it's coming from.
Yuck, yuck, yuck!
Luckily we have slate tiling and so no dehumifier was needed.
Hugs Liz, I hope it is sorted soon.
Oh and to put the icing on the cake, the Aga went out. Plenty of oil, so that was not the problem.
Could be coincidence...
Thank goodness your leak is sorted. Anthing like this is traumatic at the time. A good job we can laugh about it afterwards.
I think there's a leak epidemic going around at the moment! We currently have 3 that I know of, and the plumber is arriving tomorrow to sort it all out and update the bathroom. (Not great news on the writing front as the kids head back to school...)
Glad you got it sorted, and hope the wip and the Aga are behaving.
xx
